Position Description

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Currently seeking a Senior Structural and Payload Design Engineer to become part of the C-17 Globemaster III Structures Team in (San Antonio, TX).

Qualified candidates will design solutions for modification and repair of C-17 aircraft, utilizing NX/Teamcenter tools to develop drawing sheets, 3D models, and PDM data such as parts lists, notes lists, and application lists. They will work with other members of the C-17 Structures team, including Stress, Durability and Damage Tolerance, Maintenance and Modifications, Materials and Processes to develop the solutions and ensure they meet requirements. They will interface with Company San Antonio Depot Engineering as required to assist disposition of non-conformances.

Position Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site design assistance to Company San Antonio depot, and customer bases as required.
• Interface with Company and Customer representatives
• Work closely with senior engineers in San Antonio, TX, and Long Beach, CA
• Provide context and requirement interpretation for all C-17 Fuselage, Wing, and Empennage Structure.
• Provide guidance for design of repairs and modifications of metallic and composite aircraft structures.
• Participate in design change development, release, and implementation.
• Provide assistance to team members in use of C-17 NX/Teamcenter tools.
• Provide assistance to team members for C-17 Product Data requirements.
• Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis for customer Discrepancy Reports.
• Support C-17 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) reporting and documentation requirements.

Requirements

Required skills:
1. Experience with design tools NX, Teamcenter, CAD
2. Proficient with Microsoft Office
3. Prior experience in the military or civilian aircraft world (specifically mechanics or enlisted personnel)
4. 2-5 years of experience required

Preferred skills:
1. Prior experience with aircraft maintenance, repair, and modification work
2. Prior manufacturing experience

Required education: Bachelors in STEM
Preferred: Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, or Computer Engineering

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
